Sr. Thea’s faith-filled presence, singing, and teaching has inspired my journey as a liturgical musician and educator. This Mass setting is dedicated to her memory, legacy, and her cause for canonization. –Aaron Mathews_x000D_

Written in honor of the impactful life and work of Sister Thea Bowman, FSPA, this Mass setting aims to capture her warm and inviting spirit, her joy and love for music, and her love for God and others. Employing rhythms, chords, and other elements commonly found in African American sacred music, Aaron Mathews’ setting encourages everyone to pray and sing from the depths of their spirit—just as Sister Thea would have done.
