Kyrie, Lord

Accompaniment - ["Piano"]

Though the words of this piece are simple and direct, they express a profound need for God’s grace. The music is also simple and direct, set in ABA form. First the Latin text is sung tenderly, followed by a contrasting section in English that expresses the urgency of our need. The anthem ends with a return to the gentle melody from the beginning, now experienced as a quiet statement of trust in the God we so desperately implore to grant us divine mercy.
