Many churches offer the Stations of the Cross on Fridays during Lent, wherein the “Stabat Mater” is sung at the conclusion of each station as the priest processes to the various stations throughout the nave. The settings and harmonizations included in this Stabat Mater Suite are meant to be used with any of the various translations of the hymn, in conjunction with congregational singing.
