Lord, My Cry to Thee

Accompaniment - ["Reduction"]

“Lord, My Cry to Thee” shares the story of the psalmist’s cry found in Psalm 141. The music moves upward melodically, picturing the upward look to the Divine for answers while the simple rhythm shows the simplicity of a prayer. The rests between vocal phrases create tension, picturing the patience of waiting for a response from the Lord. The text shares the growth of the believer, who first cries, then prays, and then trusts in the Lord. A truly prayerful piece that is accessible to choirs of all sizes. The choral parts may be doubled on the piano, if needed for support.
