Most High, Glorious God

Accompaniment - ["Organ"]

This anthem sets a lesser-known prayer from St. Francis of Assisi. Most of the text is in unison and may be sung by a choir or a soloist. The full choir joins in harmony on the last line of the text to emphasize St. Francis’ call to evangelize. The remainder of the anthem sets the Gloria Patri with several quotations from LASST UNS ERFREUEN, the tune most associated with “All Creatures of Our God and King,” based on Francis’ “Canticle of the Creatures.”
