Marty Haugen wrote Holden Evening Prayer during the winter of 1985–1986 while at Holden Village in the North Cascade Mountains of Washington state. To mark the 30th anniversary of its composition, Marty expanded the content of the vespers service by adding several new psalm settings for Advent and/or Lent. Holden Evening Prayer has been expanded even further by the addition of handbell parts (provided by Barbara Larson). The introduction to the edition provides plenty of options in using this service with your worshiping community—it can be simple or elaborate, depending on your needs and resources._x000D_
