Night, Veiled Night

Anthony J. Maglione

Category: Secular Choral
Style: Concert / Festival
Series: Jeremy Jones
Level: M/D

Accompaniment - ["Reduction"]

Night, Veiled Night is a work for TTBB double choir that reflects the composer's affinity for Indian classical music traditions. Bringing together an evocative text by Rabindranath Tagore and the composer's Western compositional voice, this stunning work fills a need in the Tenor-Bass repertoire for substantial, more advanced music that explores the tender, dramtic, and meditative facets of lower voices.  _x000D_

View Me, Lord, a Work of Thine

Jackson Berkey

Category: Sacred Choral
Style: General Anthem
Series: Jackson Berkey

Accompaniment - ["Piano"]

To utterly abandon ourselves to God, we must trust him without reservation. English poet and composer Thomas Campion’s text captures the spirit of this trust in deeply meaningful language. Berkey’s romantic setting interweaves the elements of mixed voices, vocal and sectional solos, with contrasting ranges and colors in the piano accompaniment. Dynamics increase and textures thicken. A gentle alto solo floats above a low pedal point in the voices, leading to a coda that showcases voices and accompaniment in contrasting, repeating ostinatos that highlight the “endless” covenants that “know nor days, nor years.”
